Who I am and what I do.

I am Benjamin Baker.  Artist, Metalsmith, Craftsman.

My life revolves around working with my hands. I started work with my father, designing and building custom timber frame homes.

After spending summers studying and teaching at the New York State Summer School for the Arts, I attended school at SUNY New Paltz for Metalsmithing and Woodworking.

From there I moved on to building  custom cable railings and staircases around the Finger Lakes Region of New York.

Currently I am working as a lead craftsman for a high-end architectural metal company and teach jewelry making and metalsmithing classes in Brooklyn, NY.

I design and build custom furniture, lighting, and household items. In a society with a “throw away” mentality, I strive to create functional objects that will be around for generations to come.

If you can dream it, I can make it.
